How to Enable Apps Again
When you press the APPS key on your TI-84 Plus, do you get an error screen that says “APPS HAVE BEEN DISABLED”? Here’s how to fix it.
First, you need another calculator, and you need the little USB cable for connecting between calculators. Plug that cable into both calculators. Turn the calculators on.
On both calculators, press 2nd LINK. (LINK is on the X,T,O,n key.)
On one calculator—it doesn’t matter which one—press 2 and then press ENTER, to select something to transmit. (Usually you’ll be selecting L1, but it doesn’t really matter what you select.) Press the right arrow to get to TRANSMIT. On the other calculator, press the right arrow to get to RECEIVE.
Press ENTER on both calculators. Soon the receiving calculator will probably give you a menu. Press 2 to choose Overwrite. Then wait a little while, until both calculators say “Done.”
Now try the APPS key again. Does it work normally now? If it doesn’t work, contact us for more help.
(Why did Texas Instruments make this so difficult? They wanted to make sure you can’t do this during a test.)
